The ‘Apollo Covid-19’ app was developed by Gauss Surgicals. The iPhone based testing solution reduces both the exposure to risk at testing centres and simultaneously makes the process faster.

Gauss Surgicals teamed up with Elive.Care.

Gauss is among the Group of Stanford alumni, scientists and physicians participating in the ‘StartX Med Covid-19 Task Force’.

Every 7th doctor in the US is Indian. They’re working as soldiers, fighting Corona Virus : AAPI President

American Physicians of Indian-Origin (AAPI) President Dr Suresh Reddy, applauding the hundreds of thousands of Indian-origin medical personnel bravely fighting against the virus, said that “every 7th doctor in the US is an Indian and they are at the frontlines, working as soldiers and fighting the virus”.

“The entire medical fraternity has become the Army right now, fighting the coronavirus,” Reddy told PTI in an interview.

Founded in 1982, the AAPI represents more than 100,000 practising physicians in the USA.

British Officer with ties to Calcutta raises GBP 15m for NHS

Captain Tom Moore former British army officer raised funds to celebrate his 100th birthday in aid for the NHS. The ‘Just Giving’ campaign resulted in GBP 15m.

He now lives in Marston Moretain, Bedfordshire.

Tom Moore was conscripted into the British army in June 1940 when he was 20

Captain Tom Moore served during World War II. He was posted in Bombay first in 1940 and then posted to Calcutta in the 1940’s during the World War II.

Indian-American Sudarsanam Babu appointed to U.S National Science Board – April 2020

Dr. Sudarsanam Babu was appointed by U.S. President Donald Trump to the country’s top National Science Board for a period of six years.

Dr. S. Babu holds a Ph.D in Materials Science & Metallurgy from Cambridge University. He did his Masters from IIT-Madras, M.Tech (Industrial Metallurgy and Welding) in 1988. The Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Metallurgy) from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore (1988).

First Indian Midwife Dr. Manju Chhugani Awarded ‘ Marie Goubran Agent of Change Award ‘ – 2020

Dr. Manju Chhugani , Professor, Dean – School of Nursing Sciences and Allied Health, Jamia Hamdard University has been selected for the award. She is the First Indian to be the proud recipient of the Award.

The award is to be presented at the 32nd International Confederation of Midwives Triennial Congress to be held in Bali, Indonesia.

The ‘Marie Goubran Agent of Change Award’ is conferred by the Netherlands based ‘International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) , 142 member associations , representing members of 123 countries.
