** Bengaluru’s Mohsin Ahmed leads in Indian Crossword League

Reigning champion Mohsin Ahmed of Bengaluru has established lead at the end of the first scoring round of the eighth edition of the annual global contest Indian Crossword League, popularly called IXL.

Ahmed is followed by Chennai’s Ramki Krishnan at the second position. Ramki has won the contest four times in the last seven editions, an IXL release said on Sunday.

** Dr. Vivek Goel named as next president and vice‑chancellor of the University of Waterloo

Dr. Vivek Goel, a distinguished scholar with extensive achievements in research, teaching and leadership across both public and private sectors, will become the seventh president and vice-chancellor of the University of Waterloo.  

Goel has held a number of senior leadership roles at the University of Toronto including Vice-President and Provost and Vice-President Research and Innovation.

** L&T bags order from Tata Steel for supply of mining equipment

Larsen & Toubro on Wednesday said it has bagged one of its major orders from Tata Steel NSE -1.05 % to supply 46 units of mining equipment. “The order comprises 41 units of Komatsu HD785-7 (100-tonne dump truck), three units of Komatsu WA900-3E0 (9-cum wheel loader) and two units of Komatsu D275A-5R (410HP crawler dozer),” the company said in a statement.

** Indian Army establishes living facilities for troops deployed in eastern Ladakh

The Army said that apart from smart camps with integrated facilities which have been built over the years, additional state-of-the-art habitats with integrated arrangements for electricity, water, heating facilities, health and hygiene have been recently created to accommodate the troops.
