An Indian Army officer is cycling from Leh to Manali in an attempt to set a Guinness record for the “fastest solo cycling (men)”, a defence spokesman said.

Standing at the St John’s Cathedral in Australia’s Brisbane on World Peace Day (September 21), Teresa, 21, and Augnes, 18, set a world record.

The sisters, hailing from Thycattussery village of Cherthala taluk in Kerala, entered the Australian Book of Records and won a certificate from the Universal Records Forum by performing an incredible feat — they recited the national anthems of 193 countries, one after another, all from memory.

“When I graduated from Dr MGR University in Chennai, I thought of working out a digital shop concept, and finally, after a year of research and works, I have developed two apps.

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the son of a grocery shop owner from Bihar’s Samastipur district has created a chain of digital grocery shops that are providing jobs to the unemployed youth without making any investments.  

“People register themselves on the ‘ZILA Community Leadership (ZCL)’ app. After that, they start running digital grocery shops and start doorstep delivery of the items ordered by customers,” Suman Kumar Jha said.

The commission earned from running the digital grocery shop is directly credited to the partners of ZCL app. Partners can earn between  Rs 5,000 and Rs 15,000 per month without making any investments on setting up a physical shop, Jha said.

** West Bengal’s first lung transplantation takes place; patient under observation

West Bengal on Tuesday witnessed its first lung transplantation after doctors at a private hospital in Kolkata successfully conducted a marathon surgery to give a 60-year-old patient a new lease of life, an official of the medical establishment said.

The operation on the male patient started late on Monday night and took around 11-12 hours for the doctors to complete the process of transplanting the organ which came from a brain dead person in Gujarat.
