** MDRF presents award to researcher from Arizona

Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF) – Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialties Centre conferred the first MDRF-Distinguished Alumnus Award on Sampathkumar Rangaswamy at a function held on Monday.

Mr. Sampathkumar is an assistant professor at the Neurogenomics division, Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), Phoenix, Arizona

** Healthy Vegetable Oil – award winning innovation by IIT KGP researchers

Researchers from IIT Kharagpur have developed a novel formula for a vegetable oil powder to keep your heart healthy.  The innovation, led by Prof. Hari Niwas Mishra from the Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering involved tailoring vegetable oils through the preparation of oil blends which are inherently endowed with natural antioxidants as well as well-balanced fatty acids.

** IIT Kharagpur Researchers Feature Among World’s Top 2%

Sixty-seven faculty members from IIT Kharagpur have been featured in a recent article by a famous analyst group of Stanford University published in the journal of PLOS Biology. The article has ranked top scientists inclusive from various disciplines worldwide by normalizing all publication data across fields, which is inclusive of the top 2% of scientists of their respective main subfield disciplines.

Prof. Suman Chakraborty (Fluids & Plasmas – Mechanical Engineering & Transports) is leading the list from IIT Kharagpur, followed by Prof. Debabrata Das (Energy – Biotechnology), Prof. Pratim Chattaraj (Chemical Physics – Organic Chemistry), Prof. Ajay Singh (Environmental Engineering), Prof. Ramkrishna Sen (Biotechnology), and other luminaries.
