** Aswatha Narayana Sanagavarapu became India’s first gold medalist in World Skill Contest

Apart from Aswatha, the other Indians who won medals in the competition are Pranav Nutalapati, Sanjoy Pramanik and Shweta Ratanpura. Pranav Nutalapati won silver medal in web technologies, Sanjoy Pramanik and Shweta Ratanpura won bronze medals in Jewellery and graphic design technology respectively.

** Living with Type 1 diabetes, 26-yr-old dancer first in country to use DIY artificial pancreas

Jazz Sethi, a 26-year-old professional dancer from Ahmedabad who has been living with Type 1 diabetes since she was 13, is the first user of Do-It-Yourself Artificial Pancreas (DIYAP) in the country. “My life has totally changed after switching over to DIY Pancreas,” she told The Indian Express .

DIYAP consists of existing or old insulin pumps and continuous glucose sensors (CGM) connected to open-source algorithms created by the Type 1 diabetes community itself.

** ISRO, French space agency to share expertise on human spaceflight

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Thursday exchanged an ‘Implementing Arrangement’ with French National Space Agency (CNES) for cooperation concerning Human Spaceflight Programme. The agreement that was exchanged between ISRO Chairman Dr K Sivan and French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affair Jean- Yves Le Drian was specifically on sharing of expertise in space medicines for the Human Spaceflight Programme.
